Built Without Compromise: Protecting a Midnight Purple R34 GT-R
This R34 GT-R debuted at this year’s GT-R Festival and took home an award. It’s one owner’s vision of his ultimate GT-R, built entirely with new parts, from the engine bay to the underbody. Our job at STASH was to keep it looking that good.
Brodie was in his element. His passion for the GT-R brand runs deep, and a build like this is the kind of car he lives for.
Paint correction
Midnight Purple III is a three-layer finish that shifts between blue, purple, gold and red-violet depending on the light. It’s unforgiving to correct. Brodie washed the car, removed the badges and factory decals, then used the AMMO two-step correction system with Sheer and WAFL pads to bring out maximum clarity and depth.
Paint protection film
With the paint perfected, we fitted PPF using custom-made templates for a seamless fit that keeps the car’s lines sharp. The NISMO carbon front and rear diffusers were wrapped too. We finished with a ceramic coating over the film to make ongoing care easier.
Wheels, brakes and underbody
With the car on our hoist, we pulled the wheels and coated the NISMO wheels and R35 GT-R brake calipers in AMMO Gelee. The brand-new underbody and wheel arches were ceramic coated as well, along with the Ikeya Formula suspension arms and Öhlins coilovers.
The result
A build this clean deserves protection to match. From the paint to the carbon, wheels, brakes and suspension, every part of this GT-R is covered, and Brodie’s enthusiasm for the marque showed in every step.
